Hey there, hi there, ho there, as ClOCers would say! It has been a few days since I've written, although not altogether on purpose as the internet has been funky and cutting out. I spent like half an hour writing a post two nights ago, only to promptly be signed off without my draft being saved. I needed a 48 hour frustration period before re-embarking. So I'll try to remember everything I said plus the last two days too.

I am here in Alto, New Mexico. Well, actually, right now I'm not. We are performing and teching in Alto, but the only things in Alto are the most gorgeous mountains you've ever seen in the US and a huge modern theatrical structure that seems to appear out of the sky as you are driving the mile upwards. It is a breath-taking drive up to the theatre (my friend David and I made our poor friend Billy pull over for several pictures,) and Spencer theatre itself is gorgeous.

There is really just too much to talk about about the last few days, so I'll just list my top moments here so far:
1. In the town where we are staying, Rudioso or something like that, there are at least four stores with signs outside that say "we buy antlers."

2. There is also a small hut in the middle of said town that is boldly labeled Times Square on it.
Not putting the town down though, it is gorgeous and has so many quaint shops, good eatin', and a fun karaoke bar, all one really needs!

3. oxygen masks at the theatre-yes, I'm being serious. The altitude is so high up in Alto that they provide oxygen masks offstage so that after big dance numbers we can go get some air.

4. Laughing at the oxygen masks, then running for them an hour later after dancing our big number, Simon's Dance, waiting in a line for it, and thoroughly utilizing it. Thank goodness for our lungs that we are doing Jesus Christ Superstar up here, not Hot Feet or Movin' Out!

5. On another more serious note, being onstage for the Crucifixtion scene even during tech., undoubtedly the most intense theatre I've ever done. I come on as Jesus's mother at the end, with Mary Magdeline across from me, and Jesus in the middle. I literally have to watch him die on the cross. I literally stood there and bawled for ten minutes, then promptly went up to Jesus after rehearsals and said "I really need to hug you right now so that I know you are in fact ok." He is an incredible actor, and I feel so lucky and blessed to be a part of this production!!!!!!

More to come,
xo
