Mary times two in Little Rock

SO now Little Rock, Arkansas is officially one of my favorite towns ever. Why? I got to go for Mary Magdalene twice and got to go in for the Herod number (my other cover) the other night. The other understudy, Raz, who is amazing btw, went on the second night (we have both been lucky enough to go on four times!) so I covered her in Herod that night. I thought I had done my last show as Mary in Flint and even as a Herod girl, so to get to go on again was a surprising blessing. I was able to more deeply explore the character and just really get comfortable with her. Getting to work with Ted was incredible- I can't even EXPLAIN IT!!!!!!! I feel so lucky and blessed. I got to work with both the amazing J.D and the incredible Matthew Myers as the Judases both nights.

My parents flew out to see the show tonight. When I got the call at 2, they dropped what they were doing and found a flight. It was amazing and meant so much that they were there. I can't even explain it. I was honored when I went out to the lobby at the people who came up to me and said they liked me!

Then I went out and celebrated with some of my besties from tour, and now I'm back here in my room for a day off tomorrow in Little Rock. I could not be more thankful for the experience of the last two days. I am excited to get to my track but grateful for the experience.

And, hey, I even got reviewed! This is what the Arkansas Gazette said:

There were some high points in the show, including understudy Haley Swindal (subbing for Cristina Sass) as Mary Magdelene who was, well, super in “Everything’s All Right” and the ballads “I Don’t Know How to Love Him” and the very touching, very simple “Could We Start Again, Please” (an addition to the score from the 1973 film).

I am touched and honored for the last few days, and looking forward to a day off in Little Rock tomorrow. God is good!
Love,
Haley
